Saying hi this week is past Lucy Jay collaborator and illustrator, Simon Cook…
1. Tell us how you have been involved with Lucy Jay?
Back in 2010 we hooked up for a collaboration. I was really drawn to the signature Lucy Jay style and saw alot of my own graphic taste in her work. We both wanted to try something new - which for me was kinda the point of the collaboration. The feeling that you’re work and style progressing to another level.
Being my first time mixing graphic print and textile, the fusion of our styles worked really well together. Featuring collage and photographic elements with Lucy Jay’s geometric forms, it felt super fresh and was picked up by the Design Museum, London.
2. What are you working on at the moment?
At the moment I’m back living and working in Paris with a big fashion house - which still feels pretty surreal. Things are going good.
3. What are your plans for 2013?
Got some big plans and exciting things in the works so watch this space.
4. Where do you go for inspiration?
A lot of different places - old book shops, markets, different cities but alot of my work is inspired by nostalgic memories, adventures or linked to an emotion. It sort of all mixes together.
5. Whats on your iPod?
Right now - MssingNo, K-os, Kaytranada and Disclosure.
